THE SEA
-VISHESH UNNI RAGHUNATHAN
At the dusk cry ward
A charm moves the pensive
With a glow, twitter fast
It dissolves to nothing in days.
While the ever westward
Cramps up to morning glory
You listen with hushes
As like your own. Glamour
Stricken patterns of majesticity
Climb up the wave, walk
With froth to crash like the
Ever so wonderly earth.
Hidden in you the past
Enchantments, the present world
And future beheld. A baned
Leaf floats; a bandit’s like flees,
Gold, glitter dust bless
All, a mercy man’s plea.
You disturber by a wind?
Or an artic leap?
But you know before I
The truth unfolded.
Predict the summer heat
By your royalties height,
Forecast the winter chill
With the shrill of wind.
A heart may hold a
Rose or a thorny bush
Yet you know the mesmerizing
Ability of a magic garden’s behold
The lightning may strike before
The thunder or a light born
Before your wave, but
You see them all even
Before the sky’s eye’s
Brain witnesses the feat.
A shark floats and a flower
Swims, is what you see.
The ruby red’s slayer
Peace’s diamond, pears,
Lap of creativity. A sailing
Boat sees you a god
Yet you know who
He may be. A parents’
Role to humanity, giving
Way when to see or
Punishing us with a bloody
Wave, clinging to the chains
Of souls controlled, to release
The mightiness of thee.
A royal wave on wave on wave
Flutter filth to the fasting beach.
A sepulchral of life’s bone
Hidden in wait shall chant thee.
Freedom freedom calls everyone
What can that be?
Can you mighty one answer me?
Mystifying it maybe but
Life not a mystery where will I be?
A melancholy moan of a toad?
Or is the nightingale a buzzing bee?
Weird they seem to me.
The equator a line to merge
The trade on you yet u the same
Sea where ever I see.
Saw did I, you?
I doubt that’s the truth
Can a god’s creature be
A human shape given to you?
I saw, I see that on the
Street, can you be that
Oh sea! Can you be that?
A conclave of the ancient
Brains converse in you
The knowledge spreads
Into every salt composed
In you, camouflaged
By the reflect colour
Of the sky. Man sins
Man sans but you
Collect sins and sans
Still maintain the
Holy flow. Nobles
Nobles spread in you, braveness
Converged in you, love
Dissolved in you, do
They make you, like a
Mortal’s body make?
Can eyes of human
Tides reach you?
Solvent to everything,
Even to my sins?
The effect of birth
And death mystify us
But do they reflect
Me like your holy
Waters do? Seven in
Seas and five in
Oceans you extend
Your sway, the magic
Lantern like the lighthouse
Voices the stary path of life
Every crying man’s tears
Of love, hate, pain only
Know to you, progresses
Us the race to rule
And haunt the lonely
Planet for events known to you.
Wounded lands dissolve in you,
Rocks bow to your might,
Water maidens merge into you,
Trench, trench, mountains of fire,
Vast plains form your floor.
Creatures of beauty fill your
Physical being to make
Me wonder again who are you?
The waves call me and
Whisper words not know to
Me, yet I feel a glow
Of love in a depressed and
Desperate heart of love for you.
Enchanted I am, mesmerized
By you again, again and
Again, leagues of my minds
Depth search for a language
Learnt from you.
Stray, my mind is.
Searching the waves
Of my magic motherland
For the secrets the waves
Utter to me.curiousity
Kills the man, say
A few, will I too
Be a victim of a curiosity?
I reflect on this
And I see that my capability
To live, lead the holy path
Is like the fire in me.
Vengeance and earthly feelings
Dampen my heart.
The chains cramp my soul
From seeing its wants, yet
Not to sin I carryout
My mortal human responsibilities.
Reflection of a mirror,
Finds my heart talking again.
Free it says I should become.
Jovial life flows through
Like a whale at sea tries
To escape, though I too
Know the risks of escape.
I decide to follow the
Leaf, yes, the pale one
Through hearts view in peace.
Floating in my little corner
I find the leaf. It is
Fallen of a tree, shed
Like its million brothers.
To reach myself I follow,
Follow, follow, follow
The flow in the flow as
Time and tide wait for no one.
